Hello!
My name is Amanda S. Powell, and I'm an Atlanta native and mom to an awesome 7-year-old named Liam. I've always had a passion for helping people, and this passion has helped fuel me to break into a career in UX Design and Accessible Design. Currently, I'm a Senior UX Designer at Target, and I work on the majority of the Multi-Cultural campaigns.
I have an unknown, autoimmune inflammatory disorder that has caused me to become visually impaired with uveitis and cataracts. I don't let it hinder my path though! Being a visually impaired designer has pushed me for higher accessibility standards, not only in my or my team's work but also in the workplace. My goal is to break the stigma around accessibility being a "chore" for companies and designers to do and educate people on accessibility best practices and resources. Thankfully, this has allowed various opportunities for me to speak at events and teach workshops at multiple colleges. You can check out a couple of my talks under the "Events" tab on my site!
When I'm not designing or advocating for accessibility, you can find me running around town with my son Liam or hanging out in Barnes and Noble. I love volunteering, trying new restaurants, traveling, and all things Harry Potter!
